By My Spirit II

Trumped by God's grace

We all know what we think a Christian/church-goer should and should not do.  Our humanity loves legalism because we have a penchant to have “visible” rules and guidelines to follow or to flaunt.  Over the years, we have plucked what we thought were appropriate phrases from God’s Word [The Bible} to fit our beliefs, to apply where we think they fit or to support our views.  As I’ve mentioned before, some groups have created their own Bibles to exclude things they don’t agree with or to add things they do agree with.

2 Tim 3  speaks of people who will be…                                                                                  lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of Godhaving a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away   For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts, always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

The truth is:                                                                                                                                            2 Tim 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Of course, all this human tendency to be led away from God’s love and our authority He gave started in Genesis chapter 3: Satan (the serpent) made Eve question God’s truth: “did God really say?…”If you eat of the tree, you will become like God”.  Well, in Genesis 1: 26 Father God said to the Word (Jesus) and the Spirit: let’s make mankind in OUR image, in OUR likeness and they will have dominion over the earth.  Adam and Eve were ALREADY like God and already had authority, but kind of forgot when they listened to Satan and doubted God’s love for them.  Ever since then, we sons and daughters of Adam and Eve (all humans) have been deceived, living in shame, trying to justify our actions, hide our shame (as Adam & Eve did with fig leaves) and work our way  to love and acceptance.  Throughout the Bible, God shows Himself faithful.  From Adam and Eve’s fall, He promised her seed would bring One who would crush the serpent’s head; a Deliverer for God’s beloved children.pexels-photo-678448.jpeg

We still live under the original curse to this day until we accept the solution our loving God provides through Jesus Christ’s sacrifice.  John 3:16 is true:  {see my re-blog from yesterday} God loved the world so much that He gave His Son to pay for our sins while we were still dead in our shame because He knew there was no other way.  His love longs for us to turn to Him, away from the deception of lies we believe.  I looked at pornography as a youngster; I committed fornication with my husband and became pregnant before we married. I lived in fear and shame because deep inside, I knew sexual sin was wrong even before I realized it was God’s rule I was breaking, not just my mother’s. Do I still live under this shame, condemned to stay that way?  NO! Praise God from whom all blessings flow,          I have been forgiven and cleansed by the perfect sacrifice Jesus made and the blood He bled to free me.  In Christ, I am no longer ashamed of who I used to be.  The life I live now I live in Jesus’ love, grace and restored authority.  We have a loving Papa God who loves each one of us; He knows we can’t make it on our own. His plan for us is to come into the destiny He made each of us to fulfill.

2 Tim. 3:14 But you must continue in the things which you have learned and been assured of, knowing from whom you have learned them, 15 and that from childhood you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

You may not recall the “Holy Scriptures from childhood”, but His law of LOVE is written on each of our hearts.  We all desire to be loved and accepted, to be recognized for something.  This desire is God’s main purpose for each of our lives:                                      be RADICALLY LOVED by God and use that love to first love ourselves, then love others.  So, join me in learning to walk in this love.  I leave you with this thought:

God's Masterpiece
Ephesians 2:10  (NKJV)
10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
