Ancient Of Days

Ancient of Days

God reveals Himself to us in the Bible and through His Spirit as well as through science and all of creation. It’s been said that good hymnody is good theology; parts of this hymn come to mind often when I experience the glory of God.  Let’s take this chance to think about the Glory and majesty of God:

Immortal, Invisible, God only wise,
In light inaccessible hid from our eyes
Most blessed, most Glorious, the Ancient of Days,
Almighty, Victorious, Thy great Name we praise.

Verse 2
Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,
Nor wanting, nor wasting, thou rulest in might;
Thy justice like mountains high soaring above
Thy clouds which are fountains of goodness and love.

Verse 3
To all life Thou givest to both great and small;
In all life Thou livest, the true life of all;
We blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree,
And wither and perish but nought changeth Thee.

Verse 4
Great Father of glory, pure Father of light,
Thine angels adore Thee, all veiling their sight;
All laud we would render: O help us to see
‘Tis only the splendour of light hideth Thee.

(Madam’s Verse)
To all life Thou givest to both great and small;
In all life Thou livest, the true life of all;
Thy wisdom so boundless, Thy mercy so free
Eternal Thy goodness for naught changeth Thee

This is one of the many photos I’ve taken of the magnificent cloud formations around our home near Lake Ontario, this is taken from our back porch.  I’m overwhelmed by the glory of these displays of God’s glory; He really shows off around here!

What inspires you to give thanks and praise to Father God?   What draws you closer to the One who reconciled us to Himself?  I’m beginning a study of Psalm 91 by Peggy Ruth Joyce.  Here’s the first verse, the first week’s lesson:

Safety of Abiding in the Presence of God

91 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Peggy Ruth points out that there’s a part we must follow for God’s part to work:  we must dwell in our secret place; ask the Spirit to show you yours if you don’t have one yet.  Giving praise for God’s provision and protection help take you into this place of safety.  I pray you find your way into a deeper relationship with the Lord, no matter where you’re at currently.   More Lord, we need more!  Amen

    1. Thanks Patty! I had to do my blog about midnight Thursday after tackling garden produce; the photo I put at top was on my home screen when I turned on my computer and it stayed much longer than my scrolling photos do so I took the hint that that’s what the Spirit wanted me to use!
