Be Thou My Vision…

be my vision

I continue to share words of a Hymn the Spirit has put in my thoughts quite often; even today!  Our Pastor shared the story of Gideon along with Ephesians chapter 1 and this is a  good Hymn based on Bible truth that goes with these passages in the Bible.  This is a good one to use daily as we humble ourselves in prayer, realize or position in God, and make His will our own:

Be Thou my vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art;
Thou my best thought, by day or by night;
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father and I, Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise;
Thou mine inheritance, now and always;
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart;
O King of glory, my treasure Thou art.

O King of glory, my victory won;
Rule and reign in me ’til Thy will be done;
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall;
Still be my vision, O Ruler of all.

This week in my study of Psalm 91 with Peggy Joyce Ruth,Verse 3:

“For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper and from the deadly pestilence.”

Peggy says:  The traps your enemy sets for you are custom made, placed and bated specifically for each one of us…you don’t die instantly, but are ensnared until the trapper comes to destroy you.  HOPEGod delivers you!

Destructive, deadly pestilence can be a destroyer of crops like locusts or any deadly disease that comes to destroy you like swine flu.  HOPE: God delivers you from these also!

These verses relate to The Lord’s Prayer:  “Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.

Remember, this promise is for the one who chooses to abide under the shadow of the Most High (verse 1) and also SAYS of the Lord, He is my refuge and fortress and I TRUST Him (verse 2)!
