Book Reviews

This is where you will find reviews of books I read. The first one is from VOM, a true account of life in Korea over the generations. Testimony of how to live, thrive, and spread the Gospel under persecution. Truly Emmanuel, God with us!

The Voice of the Martyrs published this book in 2012, and it can be found at Thriftbooks.com, Walmart.com, Amazon.com.

This story of faith under pressure was told to Rev. Eric Foley by Mr. and Mrs. Bae. I like a quote from Mrs. Bae from early in her family’s time in a North Korean concentration camp.

“Why am I supposed to be afraid of anything? God is on my side, and he’ll make a way for us. Even in the hard times, he’ll solve all our problems. Why should we focus on the difficulties?”

Her father heard God speak loudly when he was fasting, praying, or sleeping. He found that it is good to do what the voice of God tells you, even if it doesn’t make sense. By that voice, a church building was saved, and several of those bent on destroying it found faith in Jesus. Another time, the voice gave him instructions to save their village from famine. Obeying saved elder Mr. Bae’s family by removing them from that village before a typhoid outbreak!

He taught his family from the Bible, but when God told him to burn their Bibles, he obeyed. God told him it was time to use what his heart had absorbed. A modern-day display of Biblical accounts in action is shared in this book of testimonies. It’s definitely a story for our times!
