God’s voice, sleep, and dreams?

Good day readers, nice to be musing with you all again!

Job 33:14 For God may speak in one way, or in another, yet man does not perceive it.

  1. In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep slumbering on their beds,

  2. Then He opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction.

Today I listened to two episodes of Sid Roth’s It’s Supernatural TV.  both guests were speaking about dreams, how God speaks and how God wants to speak.  Tommy Reid was first.  He believes all of us have dreams of our future when we’re between 7 & 8 years old, but usually our parents or others point out the impossibility of that idea.  He gave the example of Henry Ford’s childhood dream of the world on wheels when there weren’t even gas stations yet.  Tommy helped start Paul Younggie Cho’s church and Cho wanted Tommy to co-pastor the work with him.  Tommy declined because that’s not the dream God had given him when he was young.  A few years later, Tommy found the church from his dream in the Buffalo, NY area.  Starting with about 145 people, the church grew to over 1,000 in the first month!

Tommy encourages us to spend time outside under the open heaven as Abraham did and soak in the wonder of the universe God made.  Seek God for His dream for you as you accept the fact He has one for you and wants you to receive it and walk in it.  Another word for this kind of dream would be destiny.  The Lord has a destiny for each one of us; Satan has stolen many destinies and it’s time we take them back!

The second guest was Laura Harris Smith who has written a dream dictionary to help people interpret their dreams in a Biblical way.  She shared that Science has proven that we all have 4 REM (Rapid Eye Movement) cycles each night and we have 3-4 dreams during each REM cycle.  Since God created us to need sleep and we sleep about 1/3 of our lives, must be dreaming is an important part of God’s plan – that’s 12-18 dreams each night – but most of us can’t remember any of them!

Our enemy wants to stop us from our dreams because he knows God wants to communicate with us through dreams.  On a third episode of Sid Roth’s ISN, his guest said God likes to speak in parables as Jesus did in the Bible.  This means God uses our minds and things in our realm of experience while we sleep to put things in our thoughts and wants us to pursue Him and ask The Holy Spirit to help us understand our dreams and what God is wanting to say to us through them.

So, I encourage you to kick Satan out of your thoughts and dreams and press in to The Holy Spirit, inquiring of the Lord to find out what He wants to say to you.

I almost forgot this week’s Psalm 91 lesson is verse 4: “He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings you may seek refuge. His faithfulness is a shield and a bulwark.”

Sheltering hen Again, there is a part for us to playPeggy Joyce Ruth shares watching their mother hen put out her wings and call her chicks to run into her shelter and then she hid them under her wings to keep them safe from a hawk.  The hen did not run around gathering her chicks; they had to choose to run into the safety her wings offered.  So must we choose to run into the safety God offers!  Note that the first verse of Psalm 91 uses eagle’s wings which offer us strength and accomplishment, the chicken’s wings offer us protection and familiarity with God.

I pray you will find your dreams, have sweet sleep only the Lord can provide, and find shelter in His safety.  Amen!
