Shana Tova!

Welcome readers, to another gathering of thoughts. Get out the honey and apple slices, September 7, 2021 marks the first day of Rosh Hashana; also known as Feast of Trumpets [the head of the year]. This day marks the year of our LORD 5782 on the Jewish calendar. Referring to The Hebrew Alphabet A Mystical Journey by Edward Hoffman with Illustrations by Karen Silver, let us discover what the year 5782 has for us because each of the Hebrew letters is also numbered. Oh, don’t let the word mystical put you off; it belonged to God long before New Agers adapted it. Remember, the devil is not creative. He takes what God does and makes an inferior copy of it.

On page 33, we see the five: “The Letter ‘Hei‘ is found twice in the sacred name of God known as the tetragrammaton – Yud-Hei-Vov-Hei – and connotes divine revelation. Its sound, resembling a mere exhalation, teaches that attentive focusing upon the breath is a means for spiritual development.” Hoffman points to Abraham, when addressed by God, used the word ‘Heenayni, meaning “Here I am”… in the present moment… before a holy God.

Page 38 the seven is found: “The seventh Hebrew letter is ‘Zayin‘.” Zayin represents time; the seven days of the week including the Sabbath. “.. time cannot be destroyed or nullified, as a key force in human existence, but it can be sanctified.” Also, “Zayin begins zachaer (to remember) and zikaron (remembrance).”

Page 41 has the eight: “‘Chet is the letter of vibrant health and vitality, for it begins the crucial Hebrew word chai, referring to life… the letter Chet is formed by combining the two previous letters-Vov and Zayin– with a thin bridge-shaped line between them… our physical well-being… is linked to the quality of our relations with other people… and our inner relationship with time…” also realted to the word for dream (chalom) which is seen as key to self-knowledge, inspiration, and divine communication.

We finish with page 23, “The second Hebrew letter [Beit] has always been mystically associated with a house (bayit)… this word begins the words for the holy Temple of Jerusalem (beit Hamikdosh) and for places of study (batei midrah), social gathering (batei knesset), and prayer (batei tefilah). Traditionally, we are also advised to seek peace within our own household (shalom babayit) as a spiritual ideal.”

Bringing it all together, the year 5782 looks to be a year of divine revelation and spiritual development, sanctifying the time-each day of our year-with divine health and vitality from quality relationships with others and quality relationship in our spirit with the Lord. I expect Father God to inspire dreams to give self knowledge, inspiration, and divine communication; like a Holy Spirit counseling session! All this shall come with Shalom, found in our own household, as well as the house of God, and the houses where we study, gather socially, and use for joining in prayer. Which brings to mind some Scriptures.

Colossians 4:5 Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

3 John 1:2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. For I rejoiced greatly when brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, just as you walk in the truth.

Matthew 22:37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

Colossians 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
