Praise to God for His Salvation and Providence!

To read

Psalm 65 is part of my devotions today. So much is in these 13 verses, let us experience it together!

Worthy of Praise

Psalm 65:1 NKJV – Praise is awaiting You, O God, in Zion; and to You the vow shall be performed.

And He is worthy, so our praise rightfully belongs to Elohim. He hears our prayer, and we rightly come to Him.

Come to Him

Psalm 65:2 O You who hear prayer, to You all flesh will come.

Yes, all souls, all flesh, shall eventually come before His throne.

Transgressions

Psalm 65:3 Iniquities prevail against me;
As for our transgressions,
You will provide atonement for them.

Our atonement

We now realize that only Messiah can remove our iniquities and transgressions completely. In King David’s time, these things had to be atoned for repeatedly.

Chosen

Psalm 65:4 NKJV – Blessed is the man You choose, and cause to approach You,
That he may dwell in Your courts.
We shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, of Your holy temple.

Chosen!

In Christ, each of us has been chosen. It’s aparent that we cannot come unless He causes us to approach; unless He moves on the heart within, drawing us. He made a way for us to come into His courts continually. Are you satisfied with His goodness?

Awesome Deeds

Psalm 65:5 By awesome deeds in righteousness You will answer us,
O God of our salvation, You who are the confidence of all the ends of the earth,
and of the far-off seas;

Is there any place, no matter how far-flung, that has not encountered God’s awesome deeds? Except many do not realize and do not acknowledge Him. Let’s see how awesome the LORD is.

Mountains

Mountains Established

Psalm 65:6 Who established the mountains by His strength,
Being clothed with power;

Think about mountains. They were all established by our God, not just raised up by changes in the earth’s crust.

Waves Stilled

Psalm 65:7  You who still the noise of the seas, the noise of their waves,
And the tumult of the peoples.

Stormy seas

Remember when Jesus was sleeping in the boat and the disciples asked if He cared that they were going to die in the storm? What did Jesus do? He stood up and said, “Peace! Be still.” And the wind and waves ceased.

The disciples were in tumult. Jesus, the same yesterday, today, and forever: the wind and waves listened, and still listen to His voice!

Awesome Fear

Psalm 65:8 They also who dwell in the farthest parts are afraid of Your signs;
You make the outgoings of the morning and evening rejoice.

Many are afraid when they see His signs, but this does not cause them to honor God. The morning and evening rejoice, and so should I!

Now, let’s look at how our Heavenly Father graciously prepares the earth.  This hits home for me, as we begin to plant our garden.

Water from Heaven

Psalm 65:9-10 You visit the earth and water it, You greatly enrich it;
The river of God is full of water;
You provide their grain,
For so You have prepared it.
10 You water its ridges abundantly,
You settle its furrows;
You make it soft with showers,
You bless its growth.

Rivers and rains

The river of God, I believe, flows here on earth as a foreshadowing of what’s in heaven. He is the one who waters the earth, as we all complain about too much/not enough rain. Reminds me of the Israelites complaining in the wilderness.

We need to realize it is He who causes the grain and other crops to grow. He waters to settle furrows, to soften the ground with gentle showers. We must bless our Father as He blesses the growth of our plantings.

He Provides

Psalm 65:11-12 You crown the year with Your goodness, and Your paths drip with abundance.
12 They drop on the pastures of the wilderness, and the little hills rejoice on every side.

Stay on Path

As we stay on the path of life in Christ Jesus, we experience abundance. Around here last year, we experienced such great abundance, that we’re still enjoying the fruits of harvest from 2025.

This is even after we gave away basket after basket of produce. Truly, we can never out-give God. As we give, He gives back to us; pressed down, shaken together, and sloshing over!

Rejoice!

Psalm 65:13 The pastures are clothed with flocks; the valleys also are covered with grain; they shout for joy.

Let us rejoice and skip,
as new calves in the field!

Remember, in Christ we live and move and breathe. Let us join the mountains, hills, fields, and valleys in shouting for joy to the LORD God Almighty!

All praise and thanks be to Him. Amen.

Shalom, dear readers, until we meet again.

Surrender!
