Psalm 3 & A Hymn

Welcome to another Musing, this time on God’s faithfulness and awesomeness. The Psalm was my reading for the day. The first stanza of this hymn is one that lodged in my thoughts today.

My view from our vehicle on the way home a couple of weeks ago. Yes, I enhanced it to capture God’s amazing glory in the atmosphere.

Psalm 3 is titled:

The LORD Helps His Troubled People

A Psalm of David when he fled from Absalom his son.

3 LORD, how they have increased that trouble me. Many are they who rise up against me.   2. Many are they who say of me, “There is no help for him in God.” Selah

Selah… think about this. Are you troubled by the people around you? Maybe by the bad news and dire predictions swirrling around? Does anyone say that God can’t help you/us? Imagine being King David. Your son has arisen to usurp your throne. He’s gathered his cronies to be coronated before Dad can stop him. How does David handle this?

3. But You, O LORD,  are a shield for me. My glory and the One who lifts up my head.         4. I cried to the LORD with my voice, and He heard me from His holy hill. Selah

Selah… think about this. Are you assured that God hears you? That He can bring glory out of even this trial? David has a track record with the LORD, his God, who has been a shield of protection. He knows God hears his cry for help.

5. I lay down and slept, I awoke for the LORD sustained me.                                                       6. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around.

Do you have ten thousand people,  or more, set against you? Are you surrounded? Can you sleep? Can you trust the LORD to sustain you as you sleep, then wake you in the morning?

7. Arise, O LORD; save me, Oh my God! For You have struck all my enemies on the cheek bone; You have broken the teeth of the  ungodly.                                                                 8. Salvation belongs to the LORD. Your blessing is upon Your people. Selah

Selah.  Do you trust the LORD  to be your avenger?  Do you believe that His blessing is upon you? Upon those things/people you care about?

Now, let us turn to the Hymn that rested in my thoughts earlier today. I could only remember the first stanza, so I looked it up on YouTube.

Luke Powell  introduced this hymn by telling that the queen of England requested it for her 60th anniversary of her coronation. For the author, Walter C. Smith, this was the only hymn he wrote that became popular. Immortal, invisible… fhas a focus on the Light of God, as evidenced in the above photo. I’ll share the link to Luke’s video at the end.

Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise

1. Immortal, invisible, God only wise.              in light inaccessible hid from our eyes,      most blessed, most glorious,                            the Ancient of Days,                                 almighty,  victorious,                                         thy great name we praise.

2. Unresting, unhasting, and silent as light,    no wanting, nor wasting, thou rulest in might; thy justice like mountains high soaring above thy clouds, which are fountains.                       of goodness and love.

3.  To all life thou givest, to both great and small;                                                                      in all life thou livest, the true life of all;        we blossom and flourish as leaves on the tree, and wither and perish,                                     but naught changest thee.

4. Great Father of glory, pure Father of light, thine angels adore thee, all veiling their sight; all praise we would render, O help us to see, ’tis only the spendor of light hide the thee.

HYMN HISTORY/LYRICS ANALYSIS                 by Luke Powell

This hymn reminds me of the evening I took this photo from our deck across the yard.

Selah, I think it’s a loaded word. It’s kind of like a “pregnant pause” people talk about. In these days of wonder, waiting for God’s move, it behooves us to pause at the awe of the LORD.

Declare His will over this land, over your family, over your area. Look up, for our salvation is near. God shall defend the faithful. He is not slow as man considers it, but patient and long suffering. Awaiting the perfect timing for all to fall into place, all for His children’s good, His glory shall be revealed!

Shalom to you all, until next time.

What’s Coming Next?

Some say World War 3 and the rapture. What is God saying through the prophets? Donna Rigney, interviewed on Elijah Streams, said God is saying this will be a short war for Israel. There will be a major shaking for the world, but it will also be short. God will protect His own people. Going back to my verse for the year:

Galatians 6:9 Let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

Are you ready for God to do a sudden, Kairos moment in our lives? The Church is waking up. Our stedfast, faithful prayers are effective. Donna saw God getting up from His throne to help the angels quickly fill the bowls with our prayers so He can move! (See Revelation chapters 5 & 8)

As Kat Kerr says, “Roll up your rapture rug and rule!” These are the days of a great move of God, time for the children of God to rise up and take their places. It is time for finances and leadership to be taken from the wicked and restored to God’s people.

As for my book, Musings Along Life’s Journey, the audiobook version is ready. I need to get things right for KDP so my book can be published on Amazon in order to sell the  audiobook there. I’m also looking into a Kindle version. The holdup?  The files for the cover and insides of my book have the printer’s marks on them. I need to remove them and rearrange the back cover to make room for the ISBN number on the back. My struggle with this shows how un- tech-savvy I truly am!

You can find Donna Rigney’s prophetic words on Elijah Clips: Donna Rigney: God Told Me Things Are Going To Get Better!/Oct 13 2023

This YouTube clip has a link to the full interview on Rumble in the description. Elijah Streams is using Rumble because they don’t censor people with Christian or un – politically correct videos.

I leave you with a picture of two of our granddogs, Rainy Beth and Sunny, who spent time with us while son Chris deer hunted with his dad. Sunny is the blonde one. She had her first birthday last weekend.

I Stand At The Door…

Repeated references to this scripture recently  gave me pause. Let’s look at it.

Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

Usually, this verse is used to call sinners to salvation, but is that what Jesus was saying? Let’s look at the verses around this one.

Revelation 3:15 “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. 16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth

The worst thing we can be as a Christian is Luke warm. Vomit is one of the strongest words Jesus uses!

17 Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— 18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.

We need to ask the Spirit to search our inmost being, the depth of our soul. We need the refined gold and white garments, the salve to anoint our eyes. Search me, oh God, and know my heart… I need a true understanding of who I really am in Christ.

19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.

Be thankful and desire the searching and chastening of the Spirit of the Lord. Repent, turn back to your loving Father. Realize the price Jesus paid to blot out our sins and heal us.

20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. 21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.

Let us come back, invite our Savior to come back to the center of our life. Jesus has already overcome this life. He’s offering us the same reward He obtained, return to the place at the Father’s right hand.

Lay it all down, lay it all down… lay it all down! Work with the Spirit, Who searches all things, and open each door within your soul and let Him cleanse you.

I just got Penn Clark’s newly published books, Finding Finney and Finding Father Nash. This Second Great Awakening they were part of, the spirit of prayer was heavy. It is said that every grove and field had groups of people praying. You could stand in the area and hear several prayers being lifted all around.

http://www.finney-revival.com

Find a couple of people who want to join in prayer, or maybe there’s a prayer meeting in your area that you can join. Open yourself to the lover of your soul and let go of the things that hold you. Let’s humble ourselves and pray in what God is releasing these days. You have a part in this new era of revival. Humble yourself and He will lift you up into the plans He has for you!

Shalom my dear ones, until we meet again.

A Burning Bush Moment

A burning bush caused Moses to turn aside to investigate. God spoke to him, and Moses began a new phase of his life, one he tried to break into forty years earlier by his own strength. Jennifer LeClaire in The Prophet’s Devotional referenced this portion of Scripture and shared her own burning bush experience in her back yard that led her to a new level of her calling.

Last weekend, we had a winter weather event in New York State. We laid low, and I uncharacteristically dressed in sweats except for the times clearing snow and getting vehicles uncovered. Before I really woke up Sunday morning, my husband John came in from working outside and said the wind was really strong and blowing snow around, so I should not go to church and watch online.

I got up and dressed in sweats again, did my exercise, had breakfast, and finally was able to get the church service just after 10 am. I worshipped with them, was reminded that the turkey dinner giveaway and Operation Christmas Child boxes were being delivered, and Pastors Paul and Cheryl were back from two weeks away. Pastor Cheryl got up and said this is a day of importation. People that have not had words spoken over them fulfilled, that need to be released into what the Lord has for them next, would be prayed for at the end of service.

I knew immediately that I had to go into church! I quickly dressed, found John out cleaning off solar panels, and asked if he thought it had settled down enough for me to go. After a bit of incredulity, I left with his cautions to drive safely following me.

I spent the 20-minute drive praying in tongues and acknowledging I was in God’s timing. I arrived just at the end of service, walking in as people were hurrying out with turkey dinners to deliver. I went straight to the front of the sanctuary where Pastor Josh was praying for a woman friend of mine, and I joined in on her other side, and the Lord gave me a word for her. Then Pastor Paul prayed more of my destiny over me, and then Pastor Josh prayed over me, confirming some things.

I count this trip to church prompt as my own burning bush. I was able to encourage several other people and connect with a woman I met at our Women’s Conference in the spring. I safely arrived home earlier than usual and rejoiced that obedience has its own rewards in God’s economy.

So, what about you? I’d love to hear testimonies from my readers of how God has drawn you, you have chosen to turn to him, and he has met you there. May you all grow deeper into a relationship with the maker and sustainer of us all. Until next week, blessed Thanksgiving and true Shalom from Father God.

Snow, God’s cleansing!
